He is family oriented and lives with his wife, sons Maxwell and Leodore and cat Miss Miggles.
Alan trained with the in-house Pass PDIT and joined Pass in 2022.

I don’t even know where to start.Firstly, I wanted to say a massive thank you to Alan - I couldn’t have passed without him. Before I started my lessons with Pass Driving School, I had done lessons with an independent driving instructor. Unfortunately, they had very little faith in me and had allowed me to develop some bad habits in driving. Sadly, I also feel the lessons were unprofessional as they would eat during lessons, be uninterested in the lesson and in many occasions didn’t pay attention to the road, so this often made me feel anxious whilst driving. However, my experience with Pass Driving School couldn’t have been more different from this!! Changing to Pass Driving School has been the best decision ever - not only do I enjoy driving so much more, but I now feel like a confident and safe driver. I honestly cannot thank or recommend Alan enough - he is so lovely, patient, relaxed and encouraging. My previous instructor never commented on anything good I did, however Alan would let me know if he thought I had done something good, I think this helped a lot with my confidence with driving. I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor.
Cannot recommend learning with Pass Driving School enough! Passed FIRST time in Herne Bay after completing a 35-hour intensive course with Alan Hayward. Being a bit nervous to get behind the wheel again after having had a few questionable lessons a couple years ago with another company, Alan helped ease my nerves by making sure I was completely comfortable with each driving element before moving onto the next. With a lot to learn compacted into a week, Alan was incredibly patient and helped break down everything to help me better understand what it was I was doing, and he was more than happy to go back and revisit manoeuvres again when I didn’t feel as confident (especially bay parking in Sainsburys!). From finding the idea of driving incredibly daunting, I now miss the long drives around Herne Bay and cannot wait to drive again! Thank you, Alan and Pass!
