Matt has over 20 years driving experience. He has an extensive knowledge of driving based on his previous background which was in delivery in the South East and London for over 10 years. He hopes to utilise this experience in his teaching .
Matt has been married since 2015 and loves animals having both a cat and a dog.
He has a range of interests. He particularly enjoys watching live music, plays the guitar and also enjoys playing golf.
Matt joined Pass in 2025 having trained previously with another local driving school in 2022/3.
He will be covering Canterbury, Herne Bay and Whitstable offering manual lessons

Everyone learns in different ways and my aim is to find the best way for the individual to learn effectively and become confident in their own ability to drive safely on a range of roads.
I am a calm and patient instructor and have taught a full range of students, ages and requirements.
I was lucky to have Matt Ellis teach me for the last few months and I don't think I could've asked for a more calm and kind instructor. I don't think I would've had the confidence to do this test months ago, but Matt was always reassuring, never adding any pressure while learning and allowed me to progress at the pace I needed to get me to driving standard. I highly recommend Matt if you want someone calm.
My daughter had lessons with Matt Ellis and found him to be a great instructor, who gives clear instructions, and has a very supportive teaching style - and helps keep you calm while driving. She just passed her test on the FIRST attempt. Would definitely recommend.
Passed my driving test today first try and did my driving lessons with Matt Ellis - he was an amazing instructor who helped me stay calm, learn from mistakes and make my driving safe. He made sure everything was adapted to how I found it easier to learn and improve during my drives (independent driving etc.) which made learning and adapting a lot easier to my learning to get rid of bad habits. 100% satisified with Matt as my instructor and would def recommend him as an instructor.
I passed FIRST time with Matt Ellis with only one minor!! Matt is a wonderful instructor and always made me feel calm and explain things in a way that aligned with how i learnt best, he is a very patient instructor and i would recommend him to everyone!!
