Karen has been an instructor for 13 years and trained and qualified with Red. After going independent Karen relocated to Kent to be nearer to family. Karen joined Pass in February 2019.
Karen is also has an IAM Driving diploma. ( The examiner who passed Karen chauffeured The Queen Mother when she visited ‘The North’ !)
Karen is also a member of the DIA.

I just passed my test last week and wanted to share this review of my experience learning with Karen in Folkestone: Learning to drive with Karen has been a very positive experience. After a bad encounter with a previous instructor, I quickly found that Karen was calm and clear in her teaching, and I looked forward to learning with her each week. Her patience and encouraging nature meant that I picked up everything faster than I even expected to, and I always felt comfortable asking questions if I didn’t understand something. After passing my test, I feel extremely confident in getting on the roads by myself which is all thanks to Karen’s great teaching! Karen is a very knowledgeable instructor with a great, constructive attitude towards driving. Lessons are structured in a logical manner with time devoted to covering mistakes and planning for the driving test. I was ultimately able to pass my driving examination on the FIRST attempt thanks to Karen’s teaching.

I couldn’t recommend Karen Heywood enough. For somebody who has dyspraxia and dyslexia- she was incredibly patient with me, non-judgmenta and a very friendly approach that always made me feel at ease every lesson. She enabled me to have confidence that I could drive and I could drive well, reassuring me and consistently giving me constructive criticism that I could understand and take on board. I don’t know what I would’ve done without her! Thank you so much.
Being taught how to drive by Karen has been nothing but brilliant. She was a great driving instructor who has lots of patience and a lovely manner putting me at ease during every lesson. From someone who had never got behind a wheel until my 1st lesson, she just made me feel at ease, confident and reassured that what I was doing was great, passed FIRST time .
