Karen has been an instructor for 13 years and trained and qualified with Red. After going independent Karen relocated to Kent to be nearer to family. Karen joined Pass in February 2019.
Karen is also has an IAM Driving diploma. ( The examiner who passed Karen chauffeured The Queen Mother when she visited ‘The North’ !)
Karen is also a member of the DIA.

I couldn’t recommend Karen Heywood enough. For somebody who has dyspraxia and dyslexia- she was incredibly patient with me, non-judgmenta and a very friendly approach that always made me feel at ease every lesson. She enabled me to have confidence that I could drive and I could drive well, reassuring me and consistently giving me constructive criticism that I could understand and take on board. I don’t know what I would’ve done without her! Thank you so much.
I’ve had a few instructors while trying the get my licence but Karen was the best by far,she was patient and calm and always took things at my pace.Her teaching techniques were amazing, she broke things down in a way that made the process much easier. I would highly recommend Karen, I only wish I had found her sooner.
Karen is a very knowledgeable instructor with a great, constructive attitude towards driving. Lessons are structured in a logical manner with time devoted to covering mistakes and planning for the driving test. I was ultimately able to pass my driving examination on the FIRST attempt thanks to Karen’s teaching.
Just passed FIRST time with 0 faults and can’t thank Karen enough! She is a fantastic instructor and really helped build my driving confidence. Lessons are always friendly & relaxed. She made sure to clearly explain how to improve in areas where I was struggling and overall made me much more aware and confident as a driver. 10/10 !
Karen Heywood is the best instructor! She is calm and friendly and is so encouraging.I can’t thank her enough for all her help.She is so understanding and was always reassuring when I was feeling nervous. I will miss our driving lessons together as I loved our chats. I would highly recommend Karen for anyone learning to drive, especially someone who is feeling nervous to start driving as she makes it a fun experience.
