Karen has been an instructor for 13 years and trained and qualified with Red. After going independent Karen relocated to Kent to be nearer to family. Karen joined Pass in February 2019.
Karen is also has an IAM Driving diploma. ( The examiner who passed Karen chauffeured The Queen Mother when she visited ‘The North’ !)
Karen is also a member of the DIA.

I’m friendly, patient and reliable. I like to teach in a relaxed learning environment so students can feel comfortable.
I’ve had a few instructors while trying the get my licence but Karen was the best by far,she was patient and calm and always took things at my pace.Her teaching techniques were amazing, she broke things down in a way that made the process much easier. I would highly recommend Karen, I only wish I had found her sooner.
Karen gets 10 stars just for putting up with me . A brilliant, friendly, and understanding instructor who helped me through all the difficulties I had with getting a grip on driving as a result of my ADHD, even when I thought I couldn't do it at times! Would definitely recommend to any who want a fab instructor to get them through to getting their license and enjoy doing it.
Passed FIRST time and couldn’t have done it without Karen.She is a wonderful instructor and an absolute credit to Pass Driving School. I honesty don’t think I could have passed without her, she even got me doing manoeuvres. I couldn’t manage with another instructor from another school. Just passed FIRST time with 0 faults and can’t thank Karen enough! She is a fantastic instructor and really helped build my driving confidence. Lessons are always friendly & relaxed. She made sure to clearly explain how to improve in areas where I was struggling and overall made me much more aware and confident as a driver. 10/10 !
I couldn’t recommend Karen Heywood enough. For somebody who has dyspraxia and dyslexia- she was incredibly patient with me, non-judgmenta and a very friendly approach that always made me feel at ease every lesson. She enabled me to have confidence that I could drive and I could drive well, reassuring me and consistently giving me constructive criticism that I could understand and take on board. I don’t know what I would’ve done without her! Thank you so much.
